Project: Copy Claude
From May 2003 to September 2006, I painted an ‘after-image’ after Claude Lorrain (1600-1682), Landscape with Rebekah Taking Leave of Her Father, 1640-41. This work is at the core of both my text and visual presentation of See and Seen. Painting, copying, thinking, writing and reading in relation to this painting by Claude have formed an art practice important for this research. This work was shown for the first time in the group show True & False at Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, February 26th - May 26th, 2004.
